- All community clinics operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke clinics offer 24-hour urgent and emergency services, ensuring around-the-clock care on those islands.
Appointments are recommended for routine visits. However, walkin care is available where clinic capacity allows, for example, for urgent minor issues and prescription needs.
- Emergency care is not available at most community clinics. However, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke clinics offer 24-hour urgent and emergency services.
- For clinics outside of Tortola, patients are referred or transported to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital on Tortola. Transport may occur via ambulance, boat, or airlift, depending on the patient’s location and condition.

- Call (284) 852 7500 or (284) 394 3497 to reach BVIHSA’s main switchboard and request emergency transportation to the hospital.
- You may also email inquiries to publicrelations@bvihsa.vg for non-urgent follow-up.
- If you're enrolled in the National Health Insurance (NHI) program.
- Hospital or private clinic referrals: may involve co-payments, per NHI policy.
- All BVIHSA community clinics operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. If you require medical attention outside these hours, here’s what to do:
- Patient transport:
- In emergency situations, patients from other islands or clinics may be transferred via ambulance, boat, or airlift, depending on location and urgency, to the hospital, which will be coordinated through the main emergency lines.
- For urgent or emergency medical needs after hours:
- Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke clinics remain open 24/7 for urgent and emergency services.
- For all other areas, contact Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital on Tortola at (284) 852 7500 or (284) 394 3497 these are the main emergency lines
- Yes. BVIHSA provides primary health care services on all sister islands, including Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada. Each island has at least one community clinic offering general medical services, including check-ups, chronic disease management, vaccinations, and urgent care.
- Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke clinics operate 24 hours to provide urgent and emergency services.
- For services not available at these locations, patients may be referred or transported to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital on Tortola for specialist or advanced care.
