Timely Donation from Top Priority Security Services Safeguards Hospital Laundry Services and Highlights Importance of Public-Private Partnerships
Road Town, Tortola – September 5, 2025:- Patient care at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital remained uninterrupted this week despite an urgent challenge, thanks to the swift action of Mr. Lesmore Smith of Top Priority Security Services, who generously donated three brand new semi-commercial washing machines to the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA).
The hospital’s laundry services, essential to infection control and patient comfort, faced disruption following the failure of existing machines. Within 24 hours of learning about the situation, Mr. Smith provided the equipment, which was promptly installed by the BVIHSA Infrastructure Team.
“This is a powerful example of how our community, and the Authority can come together to protect the continuity of healthcare services,” said Director of Quality Ms. Rhonda Williams, currently Acting Chief Executive Officer and Director of Hospital Services at the BVIHSA. “Strategic partnerships are a cornerstone of our newly launched Strategic Plan, and we are deeply grateful to Mr. Smith and Top Priority Security Services for their timely and generous donation.”
Mr. Smith, a longtime supporter of the Authority, emphasized the importance of collaboration in strengthening healthcare:
“The hospital belongs to all of us. When Ms. Williams contacted me about the need, I knew I had to help. Supporting BVIHSA means supporting the entire Virgin Islands community. I encourage others in the private sector to join in strengthening the services that we all depend on.”
This collaboration reflects the Authority’s commitment to expanding public-private partnerships as a strategic priority, ensuring that critical services remain reliable while building resilience for the future.
