We understand how important it is to visit or support your loved ones at Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital. At BVIHSA, we are committed to fostering a safe and healthy environment for all visitors, ensuring the comfort of our patients and their families while upholding vital safety measures.
Please Note
Masks are still required around patients who are suspected of or confirmed to have COVID-19, but are no longer necessary in most areas of BVIHSA, except for dialysis, ICU/CCU, NICU, and operating theatres. Patients and visitors showing symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu will be asked to wear a mask.
Visitor Policies
- Visiting Hours are 11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily
(except for Behavioral Health Unit) - Patients are allowed (2) visitors at a time.
- Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Visitors musk check in and out at the information desk.
- A government -issued photo ID is required (e.g. passport, driver’s license, work ID)
- Visitors must follow hand hygiene guidelines.
Visitors are now allowed to visit COVID-19 patients
- A maximum of 2 visitors may be allowed at any one time.
- Visitors must wear a mask.
- Visitors must adhere to strict hand hygiene.
- Visitors are not allowed to visit any other part of the hospital after leaving the patient’s room.
- Visitors may still choose to participate in video visits as an alternative.
Visitation Policies By Unit
Behavioral Health
- Visiting hours are:
Monday to Friday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
Paediatric Unit
- Visiting hours are 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- Patients are allowed (2) visitors at a time. Parents or authorized person(s) (over the age of 18) are allowed to remain throughout the night with the child.
Critical Care Unit
- Visiting hours are 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
- One (1) or Two (2) persons may visit at a time for 15 minutes unless special permission is granted.
