Medical Records
The Medical Records Service at the BVI Health Services Authority is responsible for maintaining complete, accurate, and confidential medical records for all patients who receive care at the Authority. The Medical Records Service is a vital component of the healthcare system, providing essential information for patient care, research, and billing purposes.
The Medical Records Service is staffed by highly trained professionals who have expertise in managing medical records. They are responsible for the collection, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of medical records information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The Medical Records Service at BVI Health Services Authority uses an electronic health record system to maintain patient records. This system allows for the secure and efficient management of patient information, including medical history, diagnoses, treatments, medications, and test results.
The electronic health record system also enables healthcare providers to access patient information quickly and easily, improving patient care and safety.
In addition to maintaining medical records, the Medical Records Service also provides support for medical billing and coding. They ensure that all services provided to patients are accurately documented and billed to insurance companies or other payers.
The Medical Records Service at BVI Health Services Authority is committed to protecting patient privacy and confidentiality. They follow strict policies and procedures to ensure that patient information is only accessible to authorized personnel and is not shared without the patient’s consent.
Request Records
Did you know that you can request your medical records via email?
Simply scan and email the following to medicalrecords@bvihsa.vg:
- A letter of request detailing the information required including:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Contact details including telephone number
- Date(s) of service
- Type of service – Surgery, Emergency Room visit, etc.
- Type of information needed – medical report or copies of notes
- A copy of a government issued photo identification card (i.e. Passport, Driver’s License, Voters ID card)
- Your written signature must be present on the letter for signature verification against your ID.
You will receive an email within 24 hours updating you on the status of your request.

Medical Records is currently located at the 2nd floor of Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital.
Monday through Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
