Mikey Farara is a seasoned information technology and healthcare executive with more than two decades of leadership experience across the public, education, and health sectors of the Virgin Islands. A native of Tortola, he holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Wright State University in Ohio, USA.
He began his professional career in technology management and infrastructure development, serving with the BVI Ports Authority and later the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, where he established new IT departments, managed budgets, expanded connectivity, and introduced campus-wide digital systems. His expertise later extended to government projects, including the deployment of the National Geographic Information and Addressing System.
In 2008, Mr. Farara joined the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) as Director of Enterprise and Security, where he built and led the Authority’s IT Department. Under his direction, the BVIHSA achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 compliance, implemented organization-wide Health Information Systems, and connected every clinic to the central hospital network. He also served as Interim Chief Executive Officer on several occasions, providing strategic oversight, crisis management, and operational stability during critical system challenges.
A certified Cisco professional (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP), Mr. Farara combines technical depth with strategic vision. His leadership emphasizes digital transformation, organizational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making to strengthen healthcare delivery throughout the Territory. He continues to champion innovation, teamwork, and service excellence in advancing the mission of the BVI Health Services Authority.
