Dr. Neveta Sutherland Vaccianna is a Jamaican-born Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from Kingston whose career reflects academic excellence, global training, and a clear vision for advancing women’s health. She joins Peebles Hospital with a mandate to strengthen, modernize, and transform Obstetrics and Gynaecology services in the British Virgin Islands, and is excited to join the esteemed group of physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals committed to excellence in patient care.

She received her early education at the prestigious Campion College in Jamaica before matriculating directly to The University of the West Indies, where she graduated with Honours, earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS Hons).

Dr. Sutherland Vaccianna completed her internship and Senior House Officer training at May Pen Hospital, Clarendon, Jamaica developing strong clinical foundations and confidence in acute and general women’s health care. She subsequently completed her postgraduate specialist training at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston—the largest maternity hospital in the Caribbean—where she managed a high volume of complex, high-risk, and diverse obstetric and gynaecological cases. This formative experience sharpened her clinical judgment and reinforced her commitment to safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

In addition to her core specialist training, she pursued advanced international training in Reproductive Medicine and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology in India, Singapore, and Italy, gaining exposure to global best practices, cutting-edge techniques, and high-performing fertility and endoscopic surgery programs. These experiences have broadened her clinical perspective and directly inform her approach to innovation, efficiency, and excellence in women’s healthcare.

She was drawn to Obstetrics and Gynaecology for its rare privilege of caring for women across the entire life course—from birth and adolescence through reproductive years and menopause—while offering a dynamic balance between surgical expertise and medical management. Her particular clinical interests lie in Fertility Medicine and Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, two areas she is especially committed to developing and expanding during her tenure in the BVI.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sutherland Vaccianna is an avid traveler with a passion for planning journeys and adventures. Having visited over 50 countries and countless cities, she brings a global outlook to both her personal life and clinical practice. When not at work, she enjoys discovering new cultures—and appreciates a well-chilled glass of Prosecco.
