About Dr. Frett

Natasha Frett was born and raised in the British Virgin Islands and is a resident of the East End community.  She is the daughter of Gerda Frett, and the Late Ashford Frett.  In her formative years, she attended the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School and the British Virgin Islands High School (now the Elmore Stoutt High School).  Fond of music, she plays the piano and clarinet and was a member of the British Virgin Islands High School Bands and Choir. She graduated from the British Virgin Islands High Schools with honors in 1996.   

Upon graduation, she received a local government scholarship to attend the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, where she completed General Studies and attained an Associate Degree in Science.  At HLSCC, she participated in several groups, including Student Government.  She heavily participated in the leadership of church youth activities at the Church of God (Holiness) locally and regionally.  And was a member of the Long Look Full Gospel ‘Sunday’ School. 

In 1999, she received a partial scholarship from Barry University, in Miami Florida, where she enrolled in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.  At Barry, she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry.  She was a member and executive member in numerous clubs, including, National Honor Societies.  She graduated from Barry University in 2002 with honors. 

In that same year, Natasha enrolled in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, at the University of the West Indies, Kingston, Mona.  At UWI Mona, she sat on the Executive Committee for her medical class, and participated in numerous groups and clubs on campus.  While in Jamaica, Natasha, also participated in several ministries at the church she attended.  She received a Bachelor in Medical Sciences in 2005 and her Medical Degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) in 2007.  She completed her internship at the University Hospital of the West Indies and later worked as a Medical Officer in the Neonatology Unit in the Department of Child and Adolescent Medicine and the Paediatric Surgical Unit in the Department of Surgery.  Dr. Frett joined the Doctoral program in Paediatric Medicine- in 2009.  Her Doctoral thesis was “Doppler flow and fetal outcome in pregnancies complicated with hypertension.”

Dr. Frett returned to the BVI in 2014, where she worked as Consultant in Paediatric medicine at the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority.  Dr. Frett is trained in numerous subject areas including: Paediatric Forensic Interviewing, Breast Feeding, and Advance Life Support in the Neonate, Child and Adult.  As a Paediatrician, she is the Medical Officer for the Child Abuse Investigative Team, (CAIT), in the BVI. 

Dr. Frett was appointed as Director of Primary Health Care in 2018, where she oversees the operations of Public Health Clinics in the territory.  She sits on numerous national and hospital committees. In her spare time, she enjoys music, theatre, baking, teaching, traveling and interacting with young people.
