Dr. Calisa Cruickshank a medical doctor from the British Virgin Islands who has been practicing medicine for the past 12 years and is passionate about promoting preventative healthcare practices.
After being awarded her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2012 from the University of West Indies, St. Augustine she returned to territory to offer knowledge and expertise to the BVI (British Virgin Islands) community.
In 2018 Dr. Cruickshank migrated to the United Kingdom to further her studies and was awarded her Master’s in Clinical Endocrinology with merit from Queen Mary University of London. During this time, she worked in the Department of Endocrinology at the St Bartholomew’s Hospital NHS Trust where she engaged in clinical practice and academic research.
Upon her return to the territory, she utilized her newfound knowledge, skills and with the support of her clinical colleagues launched the Diabetes and Endocrinology primary care clinic services at the BVIHSA (British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority). The Diabetes and Endocrinology primary care clinic uses the multi-disciplinary approach to offer individualized care to the BVI community.
Additionally, Dr. Cruickshank is also a yoga practitioner who believes in the importance of living a balanced life. She uses her yoga practice to encourage health awareness and in doing so inspires health seeking behaviour.
