About Dr. Choucoutou

Dr. Atieannah Choucoutou gained her medical acumen at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago in 2019. She has been working in the Internal Medicine and Nephrology (Hemodialysis) Departments since she commenced working at the BVIHSA in 2020. Dr. Choucoutou worked in various hospitals across the Caribbean, which allowed her to gain an extensive knowledge in the different diseases affecting our diaspora, ranging from most common, to uncommon and rare. During her practice, she has developed a myriad of skills in clear and effective communication, quick, and critical thinking, transparency, patient advocacy, and most importantly, a patient centered, and empathetic approach to her management. She has a holistic approach to patient care, and she possesses a passion for caring for the geriatric population. Dr. Choucoutou has also contributed to the medical society in multiple ways. She advises medical students and interns, and she has also submitted publications to the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care. She has made several contributions to society including education on preventative care, reinforcement of medication compliance, and she has also participated in health campaigns held by the Seventh Day Adventist Church to keep society informed. One of her goals is to aid in the development and advancement of medicine within the British Virgin Islands. Aside from her role in healthcare, she is also a family oriented individual with a passion for worship, fine arts, outdoor activities, anime and gaming.
