Bishop John I. Cline is a prominent religious leader and community advocate from the British Virgin Islands (BVI). He began his ministry in 1985 at the New Light Baptist Church in New Jersey, serving as both Associate Minister and Youth Pastor. In 1989, he was ordained as a pastor, and in 1993, he returned to the BVI to lead the Road Town Baptist Church, which was later renamed the New Life Baptist Church (NLBC).
Under Bishop Cline’s leadership, NLBC expanded its outreach and facilities. In 2011, he spearheaded the construction of the Save the Seed Centre, a multi-million-dollar recreational facility aimed at engaging the youth. His philanthropic efforts extended internationally, notably supporting the Tortola Child Rescue and Learning Centre in Kenya, Africa.
In October 2022, Bishop Cline announced his intention to step down as Senior Pastor of NLBC, passing the leadership to his son, Pastor Jovan E.L. Cline, in 2023.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Cline has been active in public service. He was appointed Chairman of the BVI Health Services Authority Board in March 2012 and, in 2020, served as Chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee, advising the Premier on economic matters.
Bishop Cline is also an author, having written “The Monogamy Mystery,” a book exploring the challenges of relationships and offering spiritual solutions to issues like infidelity.
