NIOC Building: Environmental Assessment, Facility Works and Roof Project Update

Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands – September 17, 2026 - Work to assess and address conditions at the Nurse Iris O’Neal Clinic is continuing following the recent relocation of services, with an independent environmental assessment now completed and laboratory results expected within the next two to three weeks.

Dynamic 360 Support Services was engaged by the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) to conduct the assessment, which included visual observations, swabbing, sample collection and other relevant evaluations. The onsite work was completed on Wednesday, September 16, and samples have been sent to PRO LAB in Florida for laboratory analysis.

While awaiting the results, BVIHSA has completed several measures at the facility. The Environmental and Support Services team cleaned the building, Al’s Marine Air Condition and Refrigeration Services serviced the air conditioning systems and cleaned the vents, and five indoor air quality monitors were installed to support ongoing monitoring.

The planned roof project is also moving forward. The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the works will proceed as a priority, with Professional Roofing engaged to undertake the project under the Ministry’s management.

Once the laboratory results are received, BVIHSA will review the findings and recommendations alongside the ongoing facility works to determine the next steps for the Nurse Iris O’Neal Clinic.

BVIHSA recognizes the importance of the clinic to healthcare delivery on Virgin Gorda and remains committed to keeping the community informed. A further update will be provided once the laboratory findings have been reviewed.
