Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands – June 23, 2026 – On Thursday, June 18, 2026, members of Gideons of the British Virgin Islands presented a donation of New Testament Bibles to the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) to support patients, visitors, and healthcare workers across the organization.
The presentation was made by Mr. Joseph “Ed” DeCastro and Mr. Ian Nathaniel on behalf of Gideons of the British Virgin Islands. The donation was received on behalf of the BVIHSA by Mrs. Cedorene Malone-Smith, Chief of Operations.
The donation included note-sized Bibles for placement in patient rooms and community clinics, as well as pocket-sized editions for members of staff. These materials are intended to offer comfort, reflection, hope, and encouragement within the healthcare environment.
The donation reflects the shared understanding that healing extends beyond physical treatment alone. At BVIHSA, we are committed to holistic care that recognizes the importance of supporting the mind, body, and spirit. Resources that foster peace and encouragement can play a meaningful role for patients, families, and healthcare professionals throughout the healing journey.
Mrs. Malone-Smith expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting its significance within the patient care setting. “We are grateful for this thoughtful donation, which supports our ongoing commitment to whole-person care. Small acts of comfort and encouragement can make a meaningful difference for patients, families, and our healthcare Teams,” she said.
BVIHSA extends its appreciation to Gideons for the contribution and its continued commitment to supporting the well-being of the community.
