This post requires performing a wide range of cleaning duties in all areas of the BVI Health Services Authority acquired locations using specialized housekeeping equipment and chemicals in order to maintain a clean, safe and aseptic environment for patients, staff, and the public

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for the Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeping) role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout all areas of the healthcare facility. They will perform routine cleaning duties, including disinfecting patient rooms, bathrooms, and public spaces, using specialized chemicals and equipment. The candidate will also handle biohazard waste disposal according to established protocols, respond promptly to emergency spill or contamination situations, and ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored. Additionally, they will follow infection control procedures, adhere to safety policies, and report any hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors to prevent potential health risks.

Qualification and Experience

The successful candidate should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of previous cleaning experience, preferably within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of infection control practices, proper use of cleaning chemicals, and familiarity with cleaning equipment are essential. They should demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage their time effectively, and prioritize tasks efficiently in a high-stress environment. Good personal presentation, courteous behavior, and the flexibility to work on a 24-hour shift system are also important. Experience in handling hazardous waste and understanding safety protocols related to biological and chemical hazards will be considered advantageous.

Salary Range:

$20,098.00- $26,128.00 per annum
