About Dr. Biscoe

Dr. Byron Biscoe is a highly respected ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience providing advanced eye care services to patients across the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. He considers it an honor and a privilege to care for his patients using the latest advancements in vision technology, including cutting-edge laser eye surgery. 

Since establishing his practice in St. Thomas in 1994, Dr. Biscoe has been a pioneer in ophthalmology in the Virgin Islands, introducing several groundbreaking procedures to the region, including: 

  • Laser Vision Correction 
  • Small incision cataract surgery 
  • Retinal detachment repair 
  • Vitrectomy 
  • Advanced glaucoma surgery 
  • Laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma 
  • Clear cornea foldable intraocular lens placement

Education & Training 

Dr. Biscoe earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Morehouse College in Atlanta. He then completed his ophthalmology residency in New York, affiliated with Cornell University Medical College. His commitment to excellence led him to pursue further specialization, including: 

  • A Pathology Fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology 
  • A Retina Research Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, where he co-published research on proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) – leading cause of retinal detachment surgery failure 

Dr. Biscoe remains at the forefront of ophthalmic advancements through ongoing professional development and continuing education programs.
