The Hemodialysis Unit at Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital provides comprehensive, in-center chronic outpatient dialysis for residents of the Virgin Islands. Additionally, the unit welcomes visiting patients who require dialysis while traveling for business or leisure. Admission to the facility is by referral following evaluation by a Nephrologist, ensuring that each patient receives specialized and appropriate care.
Our Export Care Team
The Hemodialysis Unit is led by an experienced Nephrologist and supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including:
- Registered Nurses who provide expert clinical care and patient monitoring
- A Social Worker to assist with emotional, psychological, and logistical support
- A Biomedical Technician to ensure the highest standards of equipment safety and performance
- Dietitians who offer nutritional guidance tailored to each patient’s health needs
- Administrative and Support Staff, including a receptionist, to ensure seamless service.
At our facility, patient-centered care is our priority. The Nephrologist takes a holistic approach to treatment, working closely with patients to develop personalized care plans that promote their overall well-being. Patients are encouraged to be active participants in their healthcare journey.
Location & Operating Hours
The Hemodialysis Unit is conveniently located on the ground floor of the Major Peebles Wing and operates Monday to Saturday, from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
