Samantha L. Stevens-Jackson was born on the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands on the March 24th, 1979. At an early age, Ms. Stevens-Jackson began working for her father, Mr. Anselmo Stevens at Stevens Laundry & Drycleaners. Because of this, her entrepreneurial spirit was born. Upon gradation from High School, Ms. Stevens-Jackson went on to achieve her associate’s degree in business with a concentration in Accounting from the H.L Stoutt Community College and then her Bachelor of business degree in Finance and Economics with a concentration in Financial Management from Missouri Southern State University.
With these newfound tools acquired from her college experiences, Ms. Stevens-Jackson secured jobs over the next few years from various organizations such as Finance and Planning Officer at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Chief Accountant/HR for Osprey Marine Management Ltd (YCCS Yacht Club), Reporting Manager at the Treasury Department and Associate Internal Auditor for the VI Social Security Board. Ms. Stevens-Jackson is also known to be a community-oriented person who have served on committees such as Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall Committee, Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Sub-committee, and the Virgin Gorda Basketball Club and has performed many services in the community such as monthly clean ups throughout Virgin Gorda, child abuse prevention and awareness month display initiative and supported the Bregado Flax Educational Centre both primary and secondary divisions.
As an avid animal lover, Ms. Stevens-Jackson started a small dog company called Sam’s Animal Care Centre & Day Spa which has been the highlight of her career. In that time, her business is now open and serving the community of Virgin Gorda which includes hotel services, daycare services, a place where clients can shop and relax while they wait for the pet to be groomed.
As a proud mother of two, Ms. Stevens-Jackson is hopeful that her new enterprise will not only add a new and unique touch to the Virgin Gorda Community but that her children will follow in her footsteps one day and create a legacy of their own.
