The Expanded Programme on Immunization within the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) announces that two students from the Willard Wheatley Primary School in East End earned top scores in the vaccination quiz.
The vaccination quiz which was held last week was open to students from the Willard Wheatley Primary School and the Francis Lettsome Primary School. The quiz was hosted by the nurses from the Iris Penn Smith Clinic in East End and Rosalind Penn Clinic in Long Look.
Antonillia Stone and Kilver Nisbett were the top scorers and both received gift vouchers at their school today. While the 12th Annual Vaccination Week was observed from 26th April to 3rd May 2014, the Manager for the Expanded Programme on Immunization Mrs. Marina Bedeau stated that the BVIHSA is committed to promoting vaccines year-round.
She added, “We want the community to get their vaccines on schedule and remain updated. Some vaccines must be given multiple times and when young people understand the importance of updated vaccines they play a big role in reminding their peers, parents and adults.”
Persons requiring additional information can contact the Expanded Programme on Immunization by calling 852-7620 or 541-1671 or by visiting any Public Health Clinic.
