The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) and the Ministry of Health and Social Development have joined with the countries of the Americas and the Caribbean in celebrating the 13th Annual Vaccination Week from 25th April to 2nd May, 2015.
This year’s theme is “Boost Your Power, Get Vaccinated!” The week will kick off with health and education sessions that will target parents/guardians, teachers and community members. The sessions are aimed to education the audience on the importance of vaccines and how they help to improve community health.
Vaccination Week observance in the Territory will continue with a mini fair, Continued Medical Education (CME) session for nurses and doctors, outreach programmes, a debate, and end with a health fair.
Students from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) with hold a debate on the topic “Should Vaccination Be Mandatory?” The event is scheduled for Thursday, 30th April, at the HLSCC Auditorium at 5:00 pm.
