Vaccination Week Observed April
The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) and the Ministry of Health and Social Development have joined with the countries of the Americas and the Caribbean in celebrating the 14th Annual Vaccination Week from 23th-30th April.
This year’s theme is “Go for the Gold, Get Vaccinated!” The week will kick off with health and education sessions that will target children, parents/guardians, teachers and community members. The sessions are aimed to educate the audience on the importance of vaccines and how they help to improve community health.
Vaccination Week observance in the Territory will feature a church service at St. Paul’s Anglican church, open house at the Rosalind Penn Health Centre in Long Look Tortola, a Continued Medical Education (CME) session for doctors and nurses addressing the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), outreach programmes, a debate competition , and an award recognition presentation.
Students from the secondary school division will participate in a debate competition on Wednesday, 27th April at 10:00 am at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall, all are encouraged to attend.
