Team Defiance Wins 2014 Incredible Race

Incredible race 1Incredible race 2The Community Mental Health Services (CMHC) wishes to announce that Team Defiance emerged victorious for the 2014 Incredible Race held on Saturday, 17th May.

According to the Director of Community Mental Health Services, Dr. Virginia Rubaine, “Eleven teams began the race in the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park. Contestants raced throughout the Territory guided by clues and strived to arrive first at ‘Pit Stops’. At the end of each leg of the race teams were awarded prizes, gathered new clues, and avoid coming in last, which carried the possibility of elimination.”

She added, “This year’s race was even more challenging and exciting than the last, due to the fierce competition by all teams; however Team Defiance eventually emerged as the Incredible Race victors and CMHC’s goals of fostering camaraderie and good sportsmanship was realised.”
Dr. Rubaine also stated, “There were some unexpected challenges during the event and although the Incredible Race committee makes every attempt to ensure an event of this magnitude is challenge free even the best laid plans may go awry at some points. The Incredible Race committee is committed to future excellence.”

The Chief Executive Officer for the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) Mrs. Darlene Carty Baptiste at the beginning of the Incredible Race stated “I was delighted to see the amount of people and teams that turned up to offer support and to bring awareness to the importance of good mental health. The Community Mental Health Services continues to work diligently to serve the Virgin Islands community and the activities scheduled for this month will have a very positive impact on the Territory. ”

In addition to the Incredible Race, the Community Mental Health Services also held its Family Fun Day at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Saturday and for the entire month, activities will continue to educate the public and heighten awareness of the importance of mental health.

The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority and the Community Mental Health Services extends a heartfelt thank you for all of the generous contributions from the corporate community and volunteers who were instrumental in making the Incredible and the Family Fun Day a Success.'
