Anesthetics are medicines that causes complete or partial loss of feeling to specific parts of the body to abolish sensation of pain, to achieve adequate muscle relaxation during surgery, to calm fear and anxiety.  Some anesthetics also cause a loss of consciousness.

General Surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on areas of the body to treat injury, deformity and disease using operative procedures. These areas include (but are not limited to) the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, the thyroid gland, salivary glands, some arteries and veins. General Surgery also includes  procedures dealing with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, and hernias.

Gynecology is the branch of medicine dealing with the administration of health care to women, especially the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the female reproductive organs.

Internal Medicine physicians are specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness.  At least three of their seven or more years of medical school and postgraduate training are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases that affect adults.

Pathology is medical science that deals with treating of the essential nature of disease, especially of the changes in body cells, tissues and organs that cause or are caused by disease.

Pediatrics is a branch of medicine concerned with the development and care of infants and children. Its specialties are the particular diseases of children and their treatment and prevention.

Psychiatry is the branch of medical science that deals with the causes, treatment, and prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.

Obstetrics (OB) is the branch of medicine concerned with pregnancy and childbirth, including the study of all the functions of the female reproductive system and the care of the mother and fetus throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period.

Urology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the anatomy, physiology, disorders, and care of the urinary tract in men and women and of the male genital tract.

Nephrology is the medical sub-specialty dedicated to the study and management of non-surgical diseases of the kidney.

Oncology is the branch of medicine dealing with the physical, chemical, and biological properties of tumors, including study of their development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Pulmonology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the functions of the respiratory system.

Rheumatology is a sub- specialty in internal medicine and pediatrics, devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases.

Orthopedic care pertains to the correction of abnormal form or relationship of bone structures. May be accomplished surgically (orthopedic surgery) or by the application of appliances to stimulate changes in the bone structure by natural physiologic response (orthopedic therapy).
