The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority wishes to inform women in the Virgin Islands Community that a total of 40 gift vouchers are available to women in need.
The gift vouchers will be distributed on a first come first service basis to women who qualify.
The gift vouchers are donated from the Sensus Free Mammogram Programme to assist women in the fight against cancer.
A mammogram is a low-dose x-ray exam of the breasts to look for changes that are not normal. A mammogram allows the doctor to have a closer look for changes in breast tissue that cannot be felt during a breast exam. It is used for women who have no breast complaints and for women who have breast symptoms, such as a change in the shape or size of a breast, a lump, nipple discharge, or pain.
Persons interested in obtaining one of the mammogram gift vouchers are kindly asked to call Lucy Martin at 852-7627 at Peebles Hospital.
Women’s Care at Peebles hospital offers the full spectrum of women’s health care services, including yearly checkups, mammograms, prenatal care and advanced gynecologic surgeries.
