Dr Belinda Morrison-Blidgen is a Consultant Urologist at the University Hospital of the West Indies, where she is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Division of Urology. She is a proud graduate of the Wolmer’s Girls School. Dr. Morrison-Blidgen completed her undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
Her areas of academic interest include prostate cancer and andrology. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. Dr. Morrison-Blidgen has made many local, regional and international presentations to audiences in the field of urology. She is extensively involved in research, particularly related to the treatment and epidemiology of prostate cancer in Jamaica.
Dr. Morrison-Blidgen is a volunteer at the Jamaica Cancer Society where she performs regular monthly prostate screening. Additionally, she travels across the island to many churches, public and private organizations and small groups to give men’s health talks. Dr. Morrison-Blidgen is passionate about health education to the public and regularly engages the media to facilitate this.
She is the immediate past president of the Jamaica Urological Society, president elect of the Caribbean Urological Association. She is a member of the Medical Association of Jamaica, American Urological Association and Sexual Medicine Society of North America. Dr. Morrison-Blidgen is a Christian and worships at the Webster Memorial United Church.
