She then went on to do her internship for a year at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados. Dr. Bovell continued there as a Senior House Officer and subsequently a Registrar and later Chief Resident in the Department of Internal Medicine. During that time, she did post graduate studies, formally completing specialization in Internal Medicine, in June 2014 (University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados). She readily admits to a special interest in the area of Gastroenterology with a bias towards Hepatology/ Liver Transplant Medicine.
Dr. Bovell helped to update the Barbados gastric cancer statistics with her research looking at the epidemiological trends in gastric cancer profiles in Barbados (study period 2008-2012). Another of her research work titled, the outcomes of additional EKG lead placements in the pickup rate of Brugada Syndrome in Barbados was presented at the Caribbean Cardiac Society Conference (Jamaica – 2010).
Dr. Bovell is a certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider.
