The Community Mental Health Services within the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority wishes to invite the Virgin Islands Community to the Family Fun Day slated for Saturday, 17th May at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park.
The Director of Community Mental Health Services, Dr. Virginia Rubaine stated “Laughter and fun shared with family and friends are great ways to relieve stress and foster closer relationships with the people in our lives. The annual Family Fun Day and Incredible Race have been organised to facilitate greater awareness of good mental health and to give residents an avenue for strengthening their social supports. This year’s theme “Mind Your Health,” highlights the absolute importance of combining activities that increase our mental and physical well-being.”
She also added, “The Family Fun Day activities include a bouncy castle, face painting, glitter tattoos, music, food for sale and many prizes for the fun day participants. There will be a grand prize give away of a new Samsung Galaxy Tablet to a lucky participant attending the Family Fun Day. “
May is observed as Mental Health Awareness Month and this year’s theme is “Mind Your Health”. For the entire month the Community Mental Health Services will hold several activities to educate the public and heighten awareness of the importance of mental health.
In addition to the Family Fun Day, the Community Mental Health Services will host the Incredible Race on 17th May, and for the rest of the month continue with education sessions, community and media appearances.
The British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority is committed to providing services that will cater to the health and medical needs of the Virgin Islands.
